Day 1025 Invest in SPF

As a pasty person you’d assume the sun and I are not the best of friends but this year i’ve been basking in the polluted rays of that big star. I can’t wait to sit in her glory later on while reading a book that convinces me that we’re not as evolved as we think we are. Accompanied with a deli dinner it will be an idyllic evening, here’s hoping.

Salads:

Crispy tofu rice

Cauliflower + pumpkin seed pesto pasta

Five spice noodle salad

Soup: Gazpacho

Day 1024 Hot and hungry

Happy Monday people! It’s a very bubbly morning and the population seem in high spirits. It’s gonna be a hot couple of days and while I love this weather it brings many challenges. Top one being keeping cool when a ‘tricky’ customer graces us with their sweaty presence. Patience my hungry friends, we’re in this together.

Salads:

Med veg lentils

Rainbow rice

Smokey aubergine + tomato pasta

Soup: Gazpacho

Sandwich: Parma ham, Pecorino cheese, Jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 1023 Hot topic

Yesterday consisted of a plethora of topics, so random but enlightening. Who wants to talk about the weather when you can discuss American alleyways and the effects of trauma on the body? There are so many interesting things going on in the world at any given time if you can’t make conversation out of thin air you might just have to accept that you’re boring…

Salads:

Braised squash + black beans

Carrot + dill rice

Sausage + ham pasta

Panzanella with feta dressing

Soup: Tuscan tomato

Day 1022 Perspective

I really should stop reading this book, I don’t need to be encouraged to see humans as glorified animals. I already have the bad habit of lessening people social problems by putting it into the grand scheme of things. Like, if you and your friend fell out over a boy i’ll remind you that the ever changing weather patterns cause major stress on the crops worldwide which will lead to mass famine for the human race.

Salads:

Thai spiced chickpea + sweet potato curry

Kimchi rice

Leek, black olive + tomato pasta

Potato salad with tahini dressing

Soup: Sweet potato + ginger

Sandwich: Spicy salami, Gorgonzola cheese, Caramelized onion relish + tomato

Day 1021 I judge a book by it's cover

Happy hump day, this week is flying by! I’ve starting engaging in the adult pastime of reading. I find it hard to sit and concentrate so reading is a hard task for me but my brother has recommended a book that has kept me entertained. I’m intrigued to see if I will commit to reading the whole thing. We shall see.

Salads:

Black lentil curry

Ginger + turmeric rice

Mushroom + tomato pasta

Chickpea salad with paneer dressing

Soup: Gazpacho

Sandwich: Chorizo, Pecorino, Jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 1020 Serving

I got into work earlier than usual in the hopes of getting a head start on my catering orders. Y’all are so distracting i’m now playing catch up! The menu is looking positively fire today serving up surf and turf realness. I’m so blessed to have a chef as a Mother. Well, it’s a blessing and a curse, I consciously have to try and not eat my body weight on the daily!

Salads:

Mexican beans

Herbed rice

Sausage + ham pasta

Tuna salad with potato + black olive

Day 1019 I'll rest when i'm dead

What an idyllic weekend it was, but that is a thing of the past now and the Monday feeling is definitely hitting hard. I always try to mentally prepare for my workload to increase in the summer months but it always hits me like a ton of bricks. I also have some side quests I wanna complete, it’s all just a lot.

Salads:

Moroccan spiced lentils

Sumac + chive rice

Broccoli, chilli + garlic pasta

Soup: Spinach, cumin + tomato

Sandwich: Speck ham, Swiss cheese, Spicy peach relish + tomato

Day 1018 Sweat shop

It’s been such a messy week but we’ve made it to Friday. I’m going on adventure with my dragon this weekend and i’m very excite (read in Borat voice). Somehow I still have 101 errands to run but such as life. It’s been a frightfully busy morning and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down. Time for a hot lunch rush.

Salads:

Med veg white bean

Spinach + herb rice

Roast pepper + tomato pasta

Panzanella with salted ricotta dressing

Soup: Gazpacho

Sandwich: Chorizo, Manchego, Sundried tomato + caramelized onion relish

Day 1017 Pottering along

It’s been a boring week consisting of a lot of adulting so this weekend I will invest in a little R&R to make myself feel better (if only for 24 hours). We dined at Silk Road in Camberwell last night. Fresh, tasty food at a reasonable price, add it to your forever growing list of places to eat. Get your sun lotion out, a whisper of summer is coming.

Salads:

Braised aubergine + black eyed beans

Spinach + herb rice

Mushroom + tomato pasta

Soup: Chilled Gazpacho

Day 1016 Happy hump day

The day started with me receiving thank you cards from my year 6 breakfast crew. Even 10 year old’s have to endure my agony aunt antics but turns out they enjoy my passionate rants! My heart is full. That joy was short lived as I then had to return back to the misery of the adulting population, at least the sun is out.

Salads:

Peri peri cauliflower + split peas

Spinach + herb rice

Cauliflower + cashew pesto pasta

Dill dressed carrot salad with croutons + salted ricotta

Soup: Sweet potato + ginger

Day 1015 In a rush

That rain last night was intense. I have 101 errands to run today so i’m really up against it but come rain or shine (have to account for all weather scenarios in London) I will get it done. Can’t wait to fall into your arms this evening and forget about the stresses of the day.

Salads:

Chickpea coconut curry

Ginger + turmeric rice

Sausage + ham ragu pasta

Warm salad with cheese dressing

Soup: Pea, potato + dill

Day 1014 A wins a win

I feel like the only person in the vicinity with a smile on my face. England lost, am I surprised? No. Spain were the better team, we just had tons of spirit(s) (that’s an alcohol joke). Considering how popular Spain is as a holiday destination surely we should be just as happy that they won, I’m sure the costa del sole is popping right now, go catch a flight if you want to feel the after effects of a win!

Salads:

Mediterranean braised beans

Lemon, garlic + rosemary rice

Broccoli, chilli + garlic pasta

Chicken bacon, leek + potato salad

Soup: Tomato + mushroom

Sandwich: Fennel salami, Provola, Tomato + jalapeno relish

Day 1013 Please bring it home

I have a big old stack of work to execute today so I haven’t got that Friday feeling. However I’m in a chipper mood and ready to smash out this lunch rush. I can’t wait to see the population on Monday and I’m praying England win it. Do other countries reorganize large events to fit around a football match? We do misery very well but for once it would be nice to see pure joy.

Salads:

Black bean + aubergine

Crispy shallot + edamame rice

Roast pepper + tomato pasta

Sandwich: Garlic salami, Pecorino, Spicy peach relish + tomato

Day 1012 The day after

Anyone catch the game last night? Ha! Great banter! Sausage and bacon has been flying out the door this morning, how patriotic. And they found the crossbow killer. What a Wednesday it was. I wonder how many people will call in sick on Monday, it will be remembered in history as the great hangover.

Salads:

Med veg chickpea

Spinach + herb rice

Sausage + ham ragu pasta

Panzanella

Soup: Roast squash, potato + rosemary

Day 1011 The game

There’s one thing on everyone’s mind today (well…most people) the game. Considering the reaction to the quarter final result I can only imagine (and fear) what tonight’s scenes will be like if the boys win. Try and keep your beer in your cup, you can’t be throwing that liquor about in this economy!

Salads:

Thai coconut curry + roast squash

Spring onion + ginger rice

Tomato + basil pasta

Soup: Indian spiced spinach + potato

Sandwich: Mortadella ham, Manchego, Jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 1010 Iron sky

My mind is in a different world today, everything feels so strange. My head is in the clouds and those clouds look like they’re about to rain down. What a joke of a July! Oh well, I will do some online shopping to make myself feel better. I actually need to buy a dishwasher, not very exciting…

Salads:

Black lentil curry

Ginger + turmeric rice

Roast vegetable pasta

Warm paneer + potato salad

Soup: Sweet potato + ginger

Day 1009 New week

It’s been a jovial morning in the establishment. It was a working weekend so there wasn’t much time for fun side missions but that’s just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. The population went a bit doolally this weekend with the quarter final win, God only knows what will happen if we actually win. I might start boarding up the shop now!

Salads:

Chickpea + smokey aubergine

Carrot + dill rice

Mushroom + tomato pasta

Bean + potato salad with BBQ bacon dressing

Soup: Broccoli, chilli + garlic

Sandwich: Parma ham, Provola, Chilli relish + tomato

Day 1008 A new era

Big up Jeremy Corbyn for keeping his seat as an independent, the only politician to hold any kind of integrity. What an inspiration. Anyway, we now have a labour government with Sir Kier Starmer at the helm. What could possibly go wrong? Is this weather pathetic fallacy?

Salads:

Ginger + turmeric roasted sweet potato with black beans

Roast pepper rice

Sausage + ham pasta

Soup: Mild vegetable madras

Day 1007 Everything's changing and I still feel the same

Sooooooo who are you voting for? I wonder if we get a ‘Labour’ government how much will our lives change? In all reality we will mould our lives to fit under the rules from whatever party gets in. You’ll try and hide your income from the tax man, you’ll find new tactics to lower your own medical wait time and you’ll still find a way to buy cocaine even if they hire more police. Let’s just get on with it.

Salads:

Med veg lentils

Lemon + herb rice

Cauliflower + pumpkin seed pesto pasta

Soup: Lightly spiced sweet potato

Day 1006 Coincidence

Sometimes I actually feel like a witch. I will have a passing thought about a person I haven’t seen in a while and then as if they heard my thoughts, they turn up! What are the chances? I know there is an explanation to all coincidences but it’s more fun to think that my brain waves are pulsed across London through the fumes and heavy winds.

Salads:

Peri peri cauliflower + split peas

Spinach + herb rice

Mushroom + tomato pasta

Soup: Lightly spiced vegetable

Sandwich: Spicy salami, Smoked mozzarella, Caramelised onion relish + tomato
