Here’s what I ate yesterday: A lava bun from Kaphian (highly recommend), Patisserie goods from WA Japanese bakery (get the sesame cheesecake), the vegetarian bundle from Taco Bell (Fun food but obviously there’s better Mexican food out there) and to finish Creme cookies in Soho (at £4 each I don’t think it’s worth it but it was a nice treat). Did I have a good weekend? YES.

I went to the supermarket at 10pm last night and the vibe was weird. I’m in this superstore that had no one in it apart from the employees restocking the shelves, I had this overwhelming feeling come over me...I just wanted to dance, there was just so much room! Highly recommend a late night shop!

11 degrees today, it’s gonna a hot one! January is such a long month, I just want it to be February already! I made truffle risotto yesterday needless to say it was delicious. Does anyone else do a little dance when they taste good food? I really think I should start cooking for a living.

So yesterday I was making some fritters and my frying oil went mental. I was shot multiple times with little pellets, It was a mess! This being said I still persevered and the fritter was tasty, I can’t say it was worth the pain but it provided my mother with entertainment for the evening.
Salads:
Autumn root veggie curry
Rainbow rice
Pasta fagoli

I’ve always made stupid videos of my cooking with the intention for being entertaining but also informative. While many people are trying to eat less I’m always looking to eat more, so i’m thinking of putting together a channel to channel my energy into…get it #greatbanter

The first week back is coming to a close and I think it went pretty well. Many customers have jumped through the door saying how happy they are because the deli is back but honestly I needed the deli to reopen as well! My diet many consisted of biscuits over Christmas so I needed the deli to re open too!!

I’m planing a party for my brothers birthday. Not a party, more like ‘a thing to do’. I want to do a scavenger hunt because my brother likes solving puzzles and I can easily make it covid safe! Plus I rarely do anything nice for the dear boy so this should earn me some serious sister points! #siblingrivalry
Salads:
Mild curry with sweet potato
Tofu rice
Cauliflower + cashew pesto pasta
Soup: Leek · potato + tomato
I don’t know what came over me yesterday but I felt the need for clean out in our kitchen (at home). The collection of goods we’ve accumulated over the years is just ridiculous. 20 varieties of curry pastes, 10 different breeds of rice, 15 types of noodles… but the spice cupboard… 47 different spice mixtures (that doesn’t include that we have 4 different brands of Chinese 5 spice). Chef = hoarder.
Salads:
Chilli non carne
Mushroom + tomato pasta
Sandwich: Pastrami beef, Pecorino cheese, Jalapeno relish + tomato
Soup: Spiced chickpea + potato
It feels good to be back at work, for now. I feel like a fully charged phone! I was woken at 5am this morning by my darling dog so I decided to watch Modern Family until my alarm went off. Yesterday mainly consisted on people walking in and doing a little dance to celebrate the opening of the deli. We love to see it.
Salads:
Mild lentil + cauliflower curry
Ginger + turmeric rice
Chicken ragu pasta
Soup: Cumin roasted sweet potato
And the Deli is…OPEN!!! How’s 2021 treating you so far? same as 2020? Well we’re back and so far it’s going good! My new years resolution is to be kind and make better choices. It’s hard to find a resolution to better myself because lets be honest, it’s hard to improve perfection #humble

Sandwich: Fennel salame, Camembert cheese, Onion relish + tomato

Morning all, You’ve heard it a hundred times but this year has been weird, horrible, BS, a total write off! However at the deli it’s been amazing. We’ve met so many new customers as well as our OG’s who have come to see us throughout the year. From all of us at North St. we want to thank you for all the support, appreciation and laughs. Let’s hope next year will treat us better. Over and out, come thur 2021.
Salads:
Chow mein noodle salad
Pasta with Tomato · basil + french beans
Soup: Med veg
I had to go to Sainsbury’s yesterday to pick up some items for my brother. It was horrible. I don’t go to the supermarket because we have the deli and I prefer going to a market like Brixton because it’s just more fun. No amount of Christmas music would have made that a positive experience. Good luck out there folks!
Salads:
Chickpea + black eyed bean vegetable curry
Moroccan spied lamb + veg
Soup: Lightly spiced red lentils
Sandwich: Chicken, Bacon, cheddar, mayo, cranberry sauce and festive slaw
We finally put up our tree this weekend but it still hasn’t been decorated, and looking at our schedule this week it will probably get decorated on Christmas Eve! At this point I don’t think i’m excited about Christmas I think it’s the time off I really need because i’m becoming a little delirious! Not to say i’m sane usually though…
Salads:
Braised chorizo and potato
Squash ragu with Fregola
Soup: Carrot · ginger + orange
Tier 4, like WTF. There was me thinking they would never shutdown London in such a way, but hey ho. Am I angry yes, very much so, but in the fear that some may have actually wanted this miserable festive season I will keep my opinions to myself, how refreshing.
Salads:
Tuscan tomato white bean + french bean
Indian spiced rice
Roast pepper + rosemary pasta
Soup: Thai spiced tomato

Today there will be a lot of ‘good byes’ and ‘see you next year hahaha!’ can’t wait. BUT we will still be here next week. We’ll be open right up to Christmas eve and we’ll re open Monday the 18th of January. So prepare meals in advance because you’ll be deliless for a bit!

Contrary to popular belief the deli team like one another, we get on like a house on fire. Some times the flames are uncontrollable but we get on none the less. We were intending to enjoy each others company at an amazing restaurant tonight but plans have changed, so we’re going to cook a feast ourselves…i wonder if we can pull it off…

Roast squash, black eyed beans, Lemongrass and sriracha
Edamame + crispy shallot rice
Roast vegetable ragu pasta
Soup: Broccoli + potato
SOOOooOOoOoOooo Tier 3. Like always we will remain open. But i’m fuming. Literally everywhere can stay open apart from restaurants and pubs, the scenes on Oxford street etc. will still be allowed but you can’t dine out in establishments that have put so much money into ensuring their customers safety? I’m done.
Salads of the day:
Rainbow veg + chickpea curry
Ginger + turmeric rice
Smoked roast pepper + rosemary pasta
Coconut seafood curry
Soup: Tomato + parsnip madras
I had the classic weekend one would have on the run up to Christmas. A bit of socially distanced mingling (my favourite), shopping and comfort food! Still don’t have a Christmas tree though. There’s a lot going on this week so i’m going to savour this relaxed feeling while it lasts!
Salads of the day:
Chilli non carne
Lightly spiced sweetcorn rice
Cauliflower · cashew + spinach pesto pasta
Soup: Cumin tomato + split peas
Sandwich of the day: Cumberland sausage, bacon, fontina cheese, onion relish + tomato
