Day 201 Docile

Let the new week commence! It was an absolute orgy in London this weekend, everyone was out and about! I mainly stayed indoors, I’m not a fan of big crowds covid or no covid. Overall the morning has been quiet so I still feel a little sleepy!

Salads:

Back bean + aubergine in black bean sauce

Edamame + crispy shallot rice

Broccoli · chilli + garlic pasta

Soup: Bean · tomato + med herbs

Day 200 Child's Play

Plan for the weekend: Walk, Rugby, Caribbean takeaway. However today i’m in pain. I slept badly on my neck last night and now when I turn my head i look like Chuckie from Child’s Play. Anyway, like always, I’m in a very sarcastic mood. Sorry not sorry…

Salads:

Sweet potato Coconut curry

Miso rice

Courgette · tomato + basil pasta

Korean spiced beef noodles

Soup: Sweet potato · ginger + tomato

Sandwich: Spicy salame, French brie, Jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 199 I've got questions

I ask a lot of questions. It can sometimes annoy people but I do it to gain knowledge. There is so much to know and learn so I don’t waste time. My questions can be a little intense but to be fair i’m sure you’ve asked your Alexa some pretty questionable things and she doesn’t judge you so don’t judge me!

Salads:

Moroccan spiced lentils

Cumin roasted carrot rice

Pumpkin · tomato + oregano pasta

Soup: Tomato · courgette + rosemary

Day 198 I gotta get thur dis

I’m hanging on by a thread people! I’ve been trying iced coffee all morning and now my brain is BUZZING! I don’t know why I didn’t go for the spit method (might be something to do with COVID). It’s like i’m here but i’m not present so please excuse my drugged up tendencies!

Salads:

Paprika roasted peppers + white bean

Sumac rice

Sausage ragu fregola pasta

Soup: Indian spiced lentils + tomato

Sandwich: Cooked ham, Pecorino cheese, Branston pickle + tomato

Day 197 A new hope

So we now have a road map to guide us to a lockdown free life. Great. Let’s carry on with the metaphors then. How many planned roadworks will there be and have the correct diversion routes all ready been set up or will they just wing it? Have they anticipated the heavy traffic on the main roads that will cause a build up of emissions and have they considered the angry divers that will then take the law into their own hands and choose a different route? Most importantly was this road map made by the most suitable and qualified person for the job or was it set out by someones mate?

Salads:

Veggie lentil curry

Paprika pepper rice

Cauliflower + cashew pesto pasta

Soup: Parsnip · apple + potato

Day 196 Cool as a cucumber

Another day, another slay. Mother is on great form this morning. I think it’s because we had a very relaxing weekend! I went out for a walk with the dog yesterday and it was heaving on the streets. Every coffee shop had a queue and some people were just wearing t-shirts. Do you smell that? summer is near…

Salads:

Beetroot Goulash

Leek + dill rice

Roast vegetable pasta

Soup: Lentil · spinach + tomato

Sandwich: Roast beef, Blue cheese cream, jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 195 Morning routine

Hopefully by the end of this month I will wake up to daylight. My morning consists of 5 alarms the penultimate one is at 6:00am and the final one is at 6:03am then I sit up super fast like a body rising from a grave. I smack my face a couple times and then look at my dog in the eyes and we stare at each other for a while, it’s a truly magical moment.

Salads:

Thai spiced aduki beans

Miso dressed noodles

Roast pepper + rosemary pasta

Soup: Indian spiced chickpea + sweet potato

Day 194 Weirdo

I had an eventful morning. A man has just come in wearing nothing but a dressing gown, sunglasses and headphones. He was holding a large book about the history of Everton Football team and he wanted to know how to get to Highgate (specifically by bus). He was crazy, he must have been on drugs because honestly…who supports Everton?

Salads:

Med veg + lentils

Rainbow rice

Chicken ragu pasta

Pearl barley + roast squash

Soup: Tuscan Tomato

Sandwich: Fennel salame, Provola cheese, Onion relish + tomato

Day 193 Start again

So about last night. ‘Shall I compare thee to a pig?’. I, like everyone else, let myself go at Christmas. Only problem is I still haven’t got a hold on things. I ate dinner for a family of 4 yesterday and yes it was worth it but now I need to give it a rest. So enjoy your caramel slices and brownies and think of me.

Salads:

Veggie curry

Indian spiced rice

Mushroom · french beans + tomato pasta

Soup: Lightly spiced lentils

Day 192 Try Harder

Today is Shove Tuesday but in this Godless world we call it pancake day (bit intense soz) So what kind of pancakes are you going to try? American? French? Japanese? The choice is endless. With the lack of things to do right now I do not want to see a pathetic crepe with lemon and sugar. Think outside the box people!

Salads:

Roast cauliflower with turmeric + split peas

Spinach + cumin rice

Roast squash + oregano pasta

Soup: Spiced aubergine + potato

Sandwich: Parma ham, Cheddar cheese, chilli relish + tomato

Day 191 Happy new year

While many celebrated Valentines Day, I celebrated the year of the Ox! We had food from Dumplings and Boas (I recommend). I don’t know why, but in our household we’ve always celebrated Chinese new year. We use to have dim sum at this place in Chinatown but it got closed down a couple years ago because it turns out their health and hygiene was appalling…but the food was amazing…

Salads:

Chickpea + paprika squash

Sundried tomato + olive rice

Courgette · tomato + basil pasta

Soup: Sweet potato · ginger + lemongrass

Day 190 Zen Gen

Today is a new day and i’m ready for the Friday storm. I was a little abrasive yesterday so i’m going to try a calmer approach and see where that gets me. I must conserve my energy for the numerous parties I will be attending this weekend.

Salads:

Aubergine + black bean in black bean sauce

Miso rice

Sausage + ham ragu pasta

Soup: Cumin roasted potato + spinach

Sandwich: Chorizo, Cretan Graviera (sheeps milk cheese), Spicy peach relish + tomato

Day 189 Mature like Cheddar

What a strange morning. Every so often a situation will happen in the deli and then when it’s done I step back and realise that i’ve matured! I’m very opinionated but i’ve learnt from standing behind the counter that sometimes you just need to let a person have their moment and not say anything. I rarely do this and it should be noted that if I say nothing it means I have no hope for you. All T all shade

Salads:

Green lentils with basil + zucchini

Harissa rice

Rustic vegetable ragu pasta

Soup: Spiced chickpea

Day 188 Late

I woke up 30 minutes late this morning and like with everything, I blame my mother. She put the heating on and it was so cosy my body didn’t arise from it’s restful slumber! It’s really hard owning a business but a food business is even harder because people are constantly giving you food to try. Sounds great until your BMI is sky high…

Salads:

Mexican beans

Turmeric + ginger rice

Bacon + leek pasta

Pearl barley with roast tomato + rosemary

Soup: Broccoli + potato

Sandwich: Parma ham, Camembert cheese + honey

Day 187 Praise

This morning I woke up in a burrito like state. I put on a hundred layers and braced the cold. I’m not religious but I found myself praying to any God that would listen in the hope that I won’t slip and fall…and i didn’t. So thank you to whatever God that looked over me this morning. You’re the best!

Salads:

Mild madras with black eyed beans + winter veg

Cumin, coriander seeds and mustard seed rice

Cauliflower + cashew pesto pasta

Soup: Sweet potato · ginger + tomato

Day 186 The Great Weekend

I could talk about the sub zero temperatures outside but I can only be grateful for it because remember the hotter our winters get the less time we have before the icebergs melt. But on a lighter note my brothers birthday went to plan! I’m actually a little shocked because i’ve never made a scavenger hunt before, it went so well i’m considering a new career path…

Salads:

Smokey pumpkin + kidney beans

Sumac rice

Broccoli · chilli + garlic pasta

Soup: Lightly spiced parsnip + potato

Sandwich: Milano salame, Comte cheese, chilli relish + tomato

Day 185 Long Friday

Gurl. TGIF and all that but it’s going to be a long day! Friday’s are usually our busiest day and then we’re working late tonight. fun, fun, fun. Tomorrow the scavenger hunt will commence and i’m ready i’ve been planing this for weeks! I’m also making a tower of Krispy Kreme so if the hunt fails there’s always that.

Salads:

Thai coconut curry

Edamame + crispy shallot rice

Chicken ragu fregola

Soup: Med veg · lentil + tomato

Day 184 Am I smart?

So i’ve made a scavenger hunt for my brothers birthday and i’ve been testing my clues out of the customers. I think I might have made them too difficult. I’m not the most intelligent being around (I couldn’t even spell intelligent) but this might be more of a challenge then I anticipated!

Salads:

Chilli non carne

Cumin roasted carrot rice

Smokey aubergine + tomato pasta

Sou: Indian spiced red lentil

Sandwich: Bacon, Blue cheese, Jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 183 Worker Bee

I am HYPED! Catering all morning means I am on an absolute high! (this is why the menu is late) I would say something funny and/or insightful but I’m a little behind schedule so…

Salads:

Rainbow peppers

Korean rice

Roast squash + rosemary pasta

Soup: tomato · basil + peppers

Day 182 Drizzle drizzle

It’s another wet miserable day. I’m still going to take the deli dog out for a big trek after work though, come rain or shine! Yesterday a customer very bravely brought us in some of their attempts at vegan cooking. I will not post my review online because no matter how it tasted it was a lovely thought! I just hope Mad put her loving socks on today…

Salads:

Turmeric + ginger roasted cauliflower with chickpeas

Coconut + spinach rice

Chicken ragu pasta

Soup: Lightly spiced carrot + ginger

Sandwich: Cumberland sausage, Swiss cheese, onion relish, Mustard, mayo and tomato
