I had to kill two spiders yesterday. When I’m outside I accept I will be surrounded by nature and many creatures but If your decide to take your 8 legged self into my house…you gonna get got. Ending the life of an intruder is pretty simple. Scream a little, hype yourself up then La Roux it and go in for the kill.

I decided to close on Saturday’s so that my mother could have an extra day off to do as she pleases. Over the past year it seems I have lost sight of this. Mother and I were still grinding out food at 8pm yesterday. But there’s something about the feasts we create that just make us want to keep going. Until we burn out and need some R&R.

Edamame + crispy shallot rice
Sausage + ham ragu pasta
Panzanella

I have developed little coping mechanisms to help me navigate my way through life. I chew gum, I don’t look at people when I need to concentrate and I fiddle with small objects when I feel uneasy. Basically I will try to get my mind to focus on something other than the task at hand.
Salads:
Mexican bean
Chived rice
Cauliflower + cashew nut pesto pasta
Truffled cheese mixed salad
Soup: Gazpacho
This week is going to be long, hot and stressful…my favourite trio! I will have to wear a sign saying don’t talk to me’ because i’m an easily distracted puppy. Speaking of distracted puppies, I put my work on hold this morning to go and help find a lost dog. Now i’m behind, typical.

I ran 5k. I have no idea how or where I summoned this strength from but I’m so proud. It was one of my goals for the year. The only thing I envy in this world is fitness. Surrounded by food and party culture my whole life has made 5k look like an unattainable dream. So excuse me while I go be proud of myself.

So today is not as zen as yesterday. Scratch that, i’m actually totally panicking. Another day, another crisis. It will be a distant minded day for me. My body will be on the shop floor but my mind will be in the clouds.

crispy tofu rice
Spinach + cashew pesto pasta
Rice noddle salad with crab stick + sriracha mayo
You know when you make yourself a to do list, a long one, and you actually complete it? This is a new feeling for me. I have to try and stay on top of things for the next few weeks, this is a great start. Now, a lot can happen in 24 hours and being the pessimist that I am, I highly doubt I’ll be feeling accomplished tomorrow.

It’s a new week and I’m hoping to leave last week behind us. Easily one of the most stressful weeks we’ve endured in a while! Now i’m sitting at my desk looking at the week ahead, I have a sinking feeling that the next 2 weeks won’t be easier. We will be a man (woman) down.

So i’m anxious as can be because we have no card machine. It’s not working. It’s out of my control and i’m a control freak so, safe to say it’s getting to me. I haven’t got much to say because i’m just creaming internally…and sometimes out loud too.

Lemon · garlic + sweet chilli rice
Sun-dried tomato + cashew pesto pasta
Cracked wheat salad

Tonight i’m going out to dinner and I just can’t wait. I have to write an actual review of this place because quite frankly they deserve the praise. Usually, when you know you’re going for dinner in the evening, you eat light during the day so you can have a full dining experience but I work at the deli and I just can’t resist the temptation.
Salads:
Oriental coconut spiced beans
Edamame + crispy shallot rice
Sausage + ham pasta

I have heavy eyes this morning. Not the best encouragement when you have to smash out a lunch rush on you ones. I’m in a bit of a workaholic state of mind at the moment. I guess it’s better than being an alcoholic but when you’re checking your emails at 11pm, one must admit they have a problem.

I slept amazingly well yesterday but today i’ve been so inefficient with my tasks. I’m behind on everything and this makes Mother irate. People talk and I listen, then suddenly 15 minutes has gone and I’m scurrying to catch up. I know it’s my fault, but hey ho.

I think it scares people more when I don’t say anything. I’m good at socialising but that doesn’t mean I like it, so when my battery is running low I take a backseat and let the rest of the world make noise. Turns out, people don’t have much to say unless prompted to do so.
Salads:
Turmeric roasted courgette + lentils
Rainbow rice
Cauliflower + cashew pesto pasta
Salad n tings
Soup: Spiced chickpea
I went into a robot like state for yesterday’s rush. I either knuckle down and get the job done or everything and everyone will distract me. My face might have looked angry but I assure you I had a great time. Summer living has got me in a daze, these late nights are becoming a habit.

I need new shoes. I’m walking with a slight bop at the moment and I don’t want anyone to think I’m imitating onscreen gangsters. My feet have gone through so much in the past week and they’re starting to give up on me. Flip the script my mind’s telling me yes but my body’s telling me no.
